Snyk’s code security workflow connects scanning to AI-assisted explanations and candidate fixes. The distinction matters: a scanner finding is not identical to a generated patch, and a product’s branding around DeepCode AI does not by itself prove that every remediation is automatically safe.

Capabilities and integration boundaries

Snyk’s first-party data-governance page describes Agent Fix & Explain as operating on relevant vulnerability code snippets with proprietary DeepCode AI and other models hosted inside Snyk-controlled infrastructure. Snyk Code is the application-code scanning line; its CLI guidance distinguishes source-code scanning from dependency, container and infrastructure-as-code checks.

A reproducible developer workflow

Run Snyk Code on a sandbox application with a known insecure handling path. Keep the original finding ID and path, request the available AI explanation, and review the proposed edit. Independently verify the flaw with a failing regression test. Re-scan and run the project’s existing functional tests after applying a change; do not equate a closed dashboard alert with an effective security control.

Limitations and failure cases

Source-code vulnerability detection has blind spots around business rules, deployment architecture and data flows. An AI fix can address a local code snippet while missing adjacent authorization checks. Model/data retention descriptions are scoped to the provider’s stated implementation, not every Snyk product or external integration. Enterprise entitlements and regional availability need contract-level verification.

Data handling, approvals and security

First assess the exact snippet shared and its classification. Confirm organization policy for private repositories, telemetry and issue metadata. Use short-lived CI credentials; do not let automated fixes write directly to protected branches. Separately test dependency scanning because source remediation will not automatically resolve supply-chain issues.

Who should adopt it

Consider this tool for security teams already using Snyk findings who want an integrated explanation-to-remediation loop. Avoid presenting generic “AI code review accuracy” claims in procurement without reproducible tests.

Alternatives and decision trade-offs

Compare Semgrep’s finding-centered Assistant/Autofix and SonarQube’s rule-based AI CodeFix; select the system that aligns with your established scanning and review workflow.

Version, region and entitlement caveats

Research and first-party documentation checked on 25 October 2026 (cutoff date). Documented version or status scope: not version-pinned. The documentation does not independently establish availability in every country, an exact installed client release, a universal enterprise contract, or a perpetual price. No unverified seat price, request quota, API rate, model entitlement or commercial-license guarantee is supplied here. Check AI 10 dated pricing snapshots and the signed agreement before procurement. The examples are suggested evaluation methods, not experiments or benchmarks performed for this article.

Checklist before production rollout

  1. Record the exact installed version, service account, organization policy and contract or plan applicable to the tested environment.
  2. Create a clean worktree; specify the task boundary, forbidden paths, acceptance criteria and rollback before tool execution.
  3. Audit file, shell, network, extension and repository-app permissions; deny all unnecessary credentials and privileged actions.
  4. Review each resulting diff for unrequested packages, automation changes, data leaks and behavioral regressions.
  5. Run targeted tests, existing integration/regression tests and independent code/security review in a trusted environment.
