Voice cloning consent is not a checkbox an engineer can infer from possession of a recording. Resemble AI places obligations on the customer and can require a separate spoken authorization.
What the published terms require
The provider’s terms make customers responsible for owning submitted media or having all required licenses, publicity permissions and privacy consents. The same terms say Resemble AI may require the person or third party whose voice is cloned to provide verbal consent in the provider-prescribed format. A recorded actor performance, podcast appearance or internal support call is not automatically a transferable voice-cloning license.
Separate rights by use, not only by person
Document permission to create a synthetic voice model, permission to generate specific material and permission to distribute the generated recordings. Each may have different channels, languages, territory, duration, approval and revocation clauses. Authorization to narrate a training module cannot safely be stretched into a product endorsement or an outbound sales agent. Identify talent agencies, employers and underlying recordings whose contracts might impose additional restrictions.
Implement a defensible intake gate
Require identity verification by an appropriate owner-approved process; collect the agreed wording, timestamp, intended deployment, authorizing party and evidence location. Attach permission scope to the voice asset record rather than scattering PDFs in email. Enforce technical controls so an asset marked for internal preview cannot be used in public APIs. Store only minimum necessary information and make the revocation workflow capable of disabling both voice synthesis and cached public outputs.
Guardrails need independent threat testing
A terms-of-service promise is different from a technical ability to reject malicious voice requests. Test unauthorized enrollment attempts, misleading file names, impersonation prompts, downstream voice conversion and leaked API keys in a controlled internal setting. Avoid storing raw voice recordings in ordinary application logs. Do not depend on a model claiming an individual speaker match as an identity verification factor for high-stakes financial actions.
Supplier and contract review
Before production, establish data retention periods, processor roles, residency and whether training from uploaded audio occurs under the exact enterprise contract. These fields are not established by the public consent passage alone and should remain null in the product registry until the controlling document has been reviewed. Keep a way to audit output generation and receive a complaint from a voice owner.
Publication scope, rights and cost caveats
Research cutoff: 25 October 2026. The material above distinguishes provider documentation from independently measured behavior; no hands-on evaluation, legal clearance, voice-owner consent, commercial license purchase or model benchmark is claimed. Production teams must verify the specific API or installed version, account entitlement, input/output rights and destination market before release. Monetary plan amounts and metering tiers are not asserted here; the canonical pricing ledger belongs to AI 10. Missing release dates, exact rates and sample-rate capabilities are intentionally not inferred.
