Adobe Firefly’s Translate Video service generates translated speech from the spoken audio in an uploaded video.
Translation and synchronized lips are different entitlements
The additional Lip Sync option adjusts visible mouth movement to accompany the translation. Adobe states that Lip Sync is available to enterprise customers with eligible Firefly plans, so an ordinary paid Firefly subscription should not be assumed to include it. Adobe’s product description dates the Translate Audio, Translate Video, and Translate and Lip Sync services to February 19, 2025; later interface revisions do not rewrite that historical availability date.
Source quality determines practical usefulness
Before submitting a lesson or marketing clip, produce a clean master with intelligible voice, no unlicensed embedded songs and stable speaker framing. Translate idioms and proper nouns against a human-edited transcript and give reviewers context, because direct machine translation can produce awkward phrases even when the synthesized voice is pleasant. Contacting Adobe support or the designated customer success manager may be necessary for transcript edits and API workflow options, as the user-facing help page notes. Do not promise that every accent or technical term will match an official glossary automatically.
Resolution and retention are concrete limits
Adobe documents that outputs preserve the source resolution when below 1080p and are scaled down to 1080p when above it. Thus a 4K original is not evidence of a 4K translated delivery. The same help page says the finished file is available in Your media for seven days, after which it is permanently deleted. Set a file-handling reminder within your own production workflow, download the deliverable and archive it under agreed retention controls rather than expecting the vendor interface to act as a permanent content library.
A human approval path is essential
Review translation meaning with a proficient speaker, then review pronunciation, speaker continuity, subtitle segmentation and mouth motion against the audio. Pay particular attention to brand names, numbers, names, medical or financial statements, and unintentionally changed claims. Recheck the video at normal speed and muted: a perfect subtitle track can conceal a distracting lip-sync artifact. Corrections may require another generation or a traditional dubbing/editing pass; budget this possibility separately from the initial translation operation.
Consent and original voice replication
Adobe’s product description says translated audio may replicate the original speaker’s voice and that its text-to-text speaker translation may leverage third-party technology. Ensure a documented legal basis and speaker consent for voice reuse; do not treat uploading a publicly available talk as authorization to synthesize that speaker in another language. Preserve the original script and translator signoff, and disclose material synthetic modifications when appropriate to the release channel. Product policy and country-specific rights need additional review from AI11.
Worked example: three-language staff induction
A company has a six-minute English training module. First create an approved transcript and terminology sheet, then send the English source through the supported video translation process with appropriate enterprise entitlement. Produce a separate review checklist for each target language. If a scene’s original captions are baked into the footage, translation of speech alone will not necessarily localize those graphics; plan a separate text-replacement edit. Log approval by an expert who can read the language, not only a viewer impressed by lip movement.
Alternatives and purchasing caveats
Conventional subtitling, human dubbing, or voice-over without lip motion may be more controllable where exact legal terms or rapid updates matter. Adobe states translated videos have Content Credentials attached, but that provenance metadata does not certify the factual correctness of a translation. Rates, per-minute caps, region and platform entitlements remain unspecified here pending an account-specific source snapshot. No hands-on translation result or independent accuracy benchmark is claimed.
