ElevenLabs combines a recurring creative subscription, shared credits across features, API-specific discounts and optional prepaid purchasing. Comparing only the monthly price against a word count usually misstates the real cost of a dubbing or narration pipeline.
Verification scope: Official sources were checked for the 25 October 2026 cutoff. List tariffs and rights apply only to the documented provider, region, tier, exact model and sales channel. This is an editorial draft, not a verified account quote; unknown effective dates remain null.
Published seats and the monthly credit wallet
The company’s public monthly listing shows Free at USD 0 with 10,000 credits, Starter’s regular price at USD 6 with 30,000, Creator at USD 22 with 121,000, Pro at USD 99 with 600,000, and larger Scale and Business tiers. The page also advertises time-limited introductory offers. Store the ordinary recurring monthly rate separately from any first-month discount; a single promotional month does not determine the next twelve invoices. Published list prices exclude taxes and can vary with annual commitments or checkout geography.
All creative features draw from one balance
The vendor says its shared pool supports text to speech, transcription, music, sound effects and dubbing, with different consumption meters for each. For example, ordinary text synthesis is usually expressed in input characters, while speech-to-text may be metered by audio duration and dubbing can consume credits per audio minute. A balance of 30,000 credits does not imply 30,000 minutes, nor can it be compared directly with an API token allowance. The model and whether the request came via web or API are crucial; API text-generation discounts may not match browser consumption.
Credits are not a prepaid fiat wallet
ElevenLabs’ legal and API documents distinguish subscription-provided credits from Pay As You Go credit purchases. Rollover, additional purchases, overages and available services are subject to the applicable subscription and account terms. A finance system should represent credit consumption as a proprietary non-fiat meter, then record subscription USD as a separate expense. A credit is not automatically worth 0.01 USD just because another image provider adopts that convention. A team that mixes audio models must attribute each output to its exact voice and model to explain consumption.
Example: why a cost per minute is conditional
Suppose a narrator submits a 7,500-character script twice during revision and also orders a separate transcription pass. At one nominal web credit per character, the two speech attempts would consume 15,000 credits before the transcription and any model-dependent extras. This is a hypothetical illustration; the API route or selected voice can alter the actual credit charge. Divide the cost of all attempts by the accepted spoken minutes, not just the duration of the first generated file. Keep script punctuation, direction tags, multilingual characters and sampling settings in the input log.
Which plan changes the decision
A creator with irregular monthly demand may value small recurring commitments and a pay-as-you-go option; a high-volume localization team may need more concurrency, higher-quality exports, organizational seats and a written enterprise agreement. Confirm whether desired cloned voices, commercial use rights and audio formats are in the exact plan. The AI 05 team owns sound quality and rights implementation; this page owns the subscription-versus-meter bookkeeping and does not claim to have tested output quality.
Decision checklist and limitations
Before purchase or deployment, retain the literal model or plan identifier, payer/merchant, country or cloud region, billing currency, exact usage meter, source URL, checked date, effective date if explicitly supported, and any plan commitment or promotional eligibility. Recalculate from the companion price and quota snapshots rather than assuming that a remembered list tariff will remain unchanged. A credit allowance, maximum input length, published token rate and confirmed billed currency answer different questions; never add them as if they were the same quantity.
When comparing another provider or route, use the same input/output distribution and acceptable result definition. Include unsuccessful attempts, optional tools, storage, tax, payment and human review only when those components are actually measured or supported by an explicit source. Vendor marketing and documentation are not independent product tests. This article makes no claim to have personally tested paid endpoints, purchased plans, or checked account-specific taxes or availability.
Pricing evidence boundary
This cost discussion concerns ElevenLabs. Reproduce a quote only with its exact model or plan identifier, chargeable unit, billing region, processing mode and timestamp; a changing vendor rate card is not a permanent price guarantee. If any one of these dimensions is missing, keep the associated rate and worked scenario under editorial review instead of filling the gap with an estimate.
