Live captions should not treat the first words printed on screen as final words. iFlytek’s dictation API explicitly documents a mode in which earlier recognition results may be replaced.
Understand result revisions
The streamed dictation guide distinguishes simple appending of recognition results from a dynamic-correction mode that can replace earlier returned text. A client implementing append-only rendering may duplicate words or leave mistaken phrases in place. Model the transcript as timestamped updates over text ranges, not only strings to concatenate. Make interim content visibly provisional, and finalize a sentence only when the service signals completion.
Fit the feature to its intended audio length
The documented immediate-recognition interface is designed for speech segments within approximately a minute. It is not a blanket promise for an unbounded live broadcast or a ten-hour archive. For longer media, an explicit long-form or segmented workflow may be necessary. When segmenting an interview, avoid chopping across words; preserve the actual master-recording offset and overlap only when your merging logic can remove duplicates.
Configure exact audio and dialect mode
The service documentation calls out supported encoding and sample-rate combinations. Plain PCM at 16 kHz and 16-bit mono is not equivalent to a compressed MP3 frame despite sharing a nominal sampling frequency. The provider also documents optional dialect modes that can require extra entitlement. Test a target region and authentic accents before describing the feature as universal Chinese dialect recognition; list only activated and measured modes.
Operational quality controls
Collect a sample with background music, two speakers, false starts and workplace jargon. Measure final transcript word accuracy and number of visible interim corrections separately. A user can dislike a constantly flickering caption UI even if final accuracy is good. Introduce a short holdback or incremental rendering policy tuned to the accessibility use case. Keep the audio and approved reference text for manual evaluation under a defined retention policy.
Choosing between services
For Chinese real-time input, the API’s revision model and dialect features may be useful. For multilingual web conferencing, compare dedicated multilingual ASR services and channel-aware designs. Confirm account region and data residency, and do not quote a current free allowance or tariff without the pricing team’s official snapshot. Features gated in the console remain unconfirmed for a specific client.
Evidence, availability and commercial-rights boundary
Research cutoff: 25 October 2026. Provider documentation is evidence of its published interface or policy, not independent product testing. No performance score, hands-on trial, customer consent, territory-wide entitlement or legal clearance is claimed. Confirm the exact version, selected region, voice rights, data flow, account limits and current service terms before deployment. Unknown model release dates, account prices and plan limits are deliberately left unasserted; monetary claims belong to the separately dated AI10 pricing ledger. Where documentation is undated or dynamic, the public page is not treated as an archival snapshot of every earlier tier.
