A subscription page may advertise voice tools, but the controlling agreement determines what a creator can distribute. Speechify Studio’s October 2026 terms draw an important line between generated voiceovers and new cloned voices.
Which service are you actually purchasing?
Speechify distinguishes its listening-oriented applications from Studio content creation and separates voice cloning via its API under additional terms. The Studio terms dated 9 October 2026 permit commercial use of generated content when the user has the underlying intellectual-property rights. This should not be restated as an unconditional license for any uploaded script, stock asset or borrowed voice. Distribute only with the required rights to each component.
Important restriction on creating cloned voices
The Studio terms say creating new cloned voices is not currently available in ordinary Studio access, with narrowly described business Original Voice dubbing exceptions under written agreements. Previously created voices require the voice owner’s verification or controlling written agreement. A mere user assertion that a voice is authorized does not suffice. Any comparison table that labels Studio as offering universal self-serve custom cloning needs to be corrected for this effective date.
Build a compliant production workflow
For a corporate video, begin with an approved script and authorized voice from the eligible Studio catalog. Confirm whether a plan permits the necessary exports, collaboration and attribution, then generate a draft. Have the rights owner, editor and native listener check factual delivery, names, calls to action and disclaimers. Retain the service version and terms snapshot alongside the exported audio. If a client requires their own employee’s voice, use the documented enterprise authorization path or an original recording.
Understand the attribution and rights layers
The terms discuss attribution for content generated through free access as well as restrictions on prohibited impersonation. They also reserve rights in Speechify software and technology even where a customer may use the customer-generated output. These are distinct legal objects. The fact that a voiceover can appear in a monetized video does not license redistribution of the underlying voice model or training a competing model from generated speech.
When to consider alternatives
Compare Studio to a conventional human actor for flexible performance, to a fully licensed enterprise voice service for a branded synthetic speaker and to a local non-cloning TTS engine for offline accessibility. Do not quote a plan price or exact export allowance without a dated AI10 price snapshot. Enterprise conditions may vary by agreement and jurisdiction, and a feature available in one account need not appear in another.
Publication scope, rights and cost caveats
Research cutoff: 25 October 2026. The material above distinguishes provider documentation from independently measured behavior; no hands-on evaluation, legal clearance, voice-owner consent, commercial license purchase or model benchmark is claimed. Production teams must verify the specific API or installed version, account entitlement, input/output rights and destination market before release. Monetary plan amounts and metering tiers are not asserted here; the canonical pricing ledger belongs to AI 10. Missing release dates, exact rates and sample-rate capabilities are intentionally not inferred.
