A 2025 identity change
Unriddle is a historical name. In a founder announcement dated 23 March 2025, the company explicitly renamed the research product Anara and narrowed its focus toward people who work with scientific literature. Searching both brand names is sensible; publishing two separate current reviews would mislead a reader into thinking these are two competing services.
What a researcher can do
The current Anara workspace combines a research library, search and questions across sources, a note editor and linked citations. Official 2026 updates describe structured document extraction into Views, a redesigned PDF reader and companion apps. These are 2026 features and should not be retroactively attributed to the original Unriddle experience.
A practical evidence workflow
Define a narrow question such as whether a particular trial measured a specified outcome. Import the relevant papers legally, confirm authors, year and DOI, and separate abstracts from full-text PDFs. Ask Anara to identify papers that directly report the outcome. Inspect the passage behind each citation and create a short evidence table that distinguishes sample, intervention, comparator, result and limitation.
Why citations still need checking
A clickable citation is a navigation mechanism, not a peer-review verdict. It may point to a sentence that only partially supports the answer, a paper that was later corrected or an abstract that omits the required method. Even with passage links, the reader must check the original figures, confidence intervals and study design. A synthesis is not automatically a preregistered systematic review.
Where the product fits
Anara is useful for literature-intensive research and for teams that want citations adjacent to their notes. It is not a replacement for clinical judgment, institutional research governance or a systematic database-search protocol. Scientists should keep a separate search log showing query strings, dates, exclusion criteria and database coverage.
Source portability
Anara documents 2026 export options for notes including Word, PDF, HTML and LaTeX, while later documentation describes further formats for references and tables. An actual export can lose layout or rely on library links that disappear when files are deleted. Export a real test project, reopen it without an Anara account and inspect citations and attachments before committing a team library.
Regional, mobile and team caveats
Official September 2026 updates describe an iPhone/iPad companion and a Word add-in, with a stated minimum Apple operating-system requirement. That does not establish that all features exist on every device, account, data residency region or subscription tier. Obtain an institution-specific agreement for unpublished manuscripts and human-subject data.
Alternative approaches and cost
Logically is more explicitly organized around paper writing and reference management; ResearchRabbit and Litmaps map scholarly discovery; Zotero gives a traditional independent library. Compare each using the same open-access papers. No live price, upload limit or benchmark figure is asserted here; cross-reference a verified a dated pricing reference snapshot before publication.
