SenseChat and 商量: navigating a Chinese multimodal assistant

SenseChat, shown to Chinese-language visitors as 商量 (Shangliang), is a SenseTime consumer assistant.

Recognize the name

SenseChat, shown to Chinese-language visitors as 商量 (Shangliang), is a SenseTime consumer assistant. The branded web application includes general chat, document questions, composition examples and multimodal demonstrations. It is not the same artifact as SenseTime’s underlying SenseNova model series; model benchmarking and developer deployment belong to the model and API reference.

What the official application demonstrates

The official consumer web page includes sample prompts for drafting a social post, creating a presentation outline, practicing English conversation, explaining a research paper, writing code and summarizing documents. It also describes web-linked thinking and a video-understanding trial. These are examples of tasks, not a commitment to identical capability in each city, plan or account.

Useful evaluation without a login

A visitor can begin by examining publicly described sample questions. A safe test would use a Creative Commons paper and ask for its stated hypothesis, dataset and principal limitation. Check each answer against the original PDF. For an English conversation lesson, evaluate wording and grammar with a second source rather than treating a simulated tutor as a professional teacher.

Multimodality and the handoff

Some demonstrations generate images or logos and others analyze a picture or video. The meaning of supported image or video output depends on the client and entitlement. A full discussion of image engines, credit costs or synthetic video production belongs to the image-generation reference and the video-generation reference; this article treats them only as discovery surfaces for the general assistant.

Language and geography

The reachable product page is principally in Chinese and includes a mobile app download prompt and account login. That supports a conclusion about its primary interface language, not a claim that the application is permanently restricted to mainland China. Terms, identity requirements, local app-store availability and professional English support need region-specific checking.

Evidence and credibility

Generated descriptions of scientific, health, financial or government matters should be treated as drafts. A system may successfully reproduce a general explanation yet misstate a paper result or regulation. Use links or identifiable publications in the source document and record when the page was accessed. A marketing example is not a benchmark.

Data and portability

The public page alone did not establish robust organization-wide data-residency guarantees, training opt-outs or a complete archive export route. Avoid sensitive uploads until the binding privacy notice and client contract have been checked. Save approved work and its source documents outside the chat; test deletion and retention with a low-risk trial account.

Other Chinese-language assistants

iFlytek Spark is oriented toward assistant and document workflows; Zhipu Qingyan exposes another research-and-creation interface; Qwen Studio is another general assistant. Their product availability and privacy terms differ. No numerical cost, quota, exact model ID or universal language claim is included without additional evidence.
