Tactiq meeting transcripts: browser captions, notes and the hidden limits of bot-free capture

Tactiq can capture and organize meeting transcripts from supported meeting interfaces without sending a separate bot into the conversation in the standard browser-extension workflow.

Tactiq can capture and organize meeting transcripts from supported meeting interfaces without sending a separate bot into the conversation in the standard browser-extension workflow. That does not eliminate the need for consent, accuracy checks, or decisions about where the transcript is stored afterward.

What the product actually does

Tactiq’s official documentation describes using a Chrome or Edge extension with Zoom in the browser and obtaining transcripts from available captions. Its help center explicitly distinguishes browser Zoom from the Zoom desktop client, while a supported macOS app is a different capture path. Tactiq also markets support for Google Meet and Teams with meeting-dependent requirements.

After a meeting, the product can generate recaps and action items from a saved transcript. That is a workflow convenience, not evidence that every participant’s utterance was captured in all conditions or that a bot’s absence makes the recording invisible to attendees.

A practical first workflow

Before a meeting, check platform, browser, caption availability and spoken language settings. Tell participants that a transcript is being generated and obtain whatever permission organizational policy and applicable law require. During the meeting, make a note of ambiguous speaker changes and critical numbers.

Afterward, review the transcript against meeting notes and correct names, decisions and deadlines. Export a plain-text or PDF copy where supported, and share only with the authorized group; if a source is missing because captions were disabled, document the gap rather than filling it in from AI inference.

Where claims and generated answers can fail

Caption availability and transcription quality depend on the host, meeting platform, language and environment. A missing transcript can reflect a disabled caption option or local unsaved data rather than a failed AI model.

The provider’s product pages make wide language claims and describe new desktop features. Those should be verified on the specific device, version and tier; a browser workflow is not interchangeable with a Mac app or a native Windows meeting client.

Privacy, permissions and access boundaries

A bot-free method still processes people’s spoken words. The fact that no new attendee appears does not replace disclosure, organizer permission or a written handling policy for recordings and transcripts.

Tactiq’s help material discusses locally unsaved transcripts in browser storage and later saved meeting records. An organization should test both recovery and deletion of these copies before turning it on by default.

Export, ownership and future portability

Tactiq documents transcript sharing and exports including TXT and PDF. Use these exports as inputs to a controlled meeting-minute template with explicit reviewers and owners, rather than treating automatically inferred action items as decisions.

When leaving the tool, test whether meeting archives, shared links and unsaved local transcripts can be found and deleted in every location where they were stored.

Who should consider an alternative?

Krisp is more closely coupled with audio processing, Read AI with connected-work memory, and Fathom/Fireflies with hosted meeting knowledge. Choose capture architecture and governance before comparing summary aesthetics.

How to evaluate it without relying on a sponsored ranking

Choose a small and non-sensitive real task with an answer that can be independently checked. Before testing, record the account, region, language, plan, device and observed user-interface version. Do not infer an exact underlying model ID from the app name; this product profile is not a model release dossier.

Check whether the service meets the entire job: discover, draft, fact-check, permission, revise, export and delete. Separate vendor-described features from any independent outcome evidence. This editorial pass did not conduct hands-on trials, accuracy benchmarks, screenshots or security penetration testing.

Ask the people who own the data and the final work product to approve sharing and publication separately. The productivity benefit only survives if staff can correct a bad output, reverse access and retrieve accepted work when a subscription or product name changes.

Pricing, regional availability and release caveats

This archive records public, provider-documented product functions as reviewed on October 25, 2026. It does not assume that every region, business workspace, operating system or account tier has identical features. Exact regional entitlement, plan quotas, enterprise terms and effective prices are intentionally left unasserted where no matching first-party snapshot was validated.

For current subscription amounts and usage limits, consult a dated pricing registry rather than a copied evergreen price table. Product-level descriptions are not evidence that an application used one fixed model build throughout 2020–2026.
