The Grammarly product and the company that created it now have different labels. The company announced its Superhuman name in October 2025, but Grammarly continued as the writing-assistance product. Confusing the two can distort purchasing, privacy and historical comparisons.
Product: Grammarly · Disposition: currently documented product
What the product actually does
Grammarly grew from grammar and spelling suggestions into a broader communication assistant. Its current support documentation places the writing product inside Superhuman’s wider productivity suite alongside a new agent experience. The company’s October 29, 2025 announcement explicitly says the Grammarly product continues even as the parent company adopts a new name.
For a user, the essential workflow remains editing a draft for correctness, tone and readability while preserving the author’s intended claims. The agent suite may expose more application context than a narrow proofreader. Those are different data surfaces and should be assessed separately.
A practical first workflow
Draft the message yourself and run a grammar pass; then review every flagged change for meaning. In legal, scientific or finance writing, accept corrections only after ensuring that modality, negation, units and quoted language remain intact.
For a team, write a short voice guide with examples of permitted tone and prohibited claims. Review real edits across supported platforms, and check how a browser extension interacts with sensitive text fields before enabling broad access on managed devices.
Where claims and generated answers can fail
Grammar tools do not establish factual accuracy, originality or regulatory compliance. Rewrites can introduce subtle legal commitments, remove hedging language or make a customer promise stronger than intended. AI-detection or plagiarism features, when offered, have different evidentiary limitations from a spellchecker.
The Superhuman branding change does not mean all historic Grammarly accounts suddenly receive every agent integration or bundle. Feature availability, platform support and plans require an edition- and date-specific check.
Privacy, permissions and access boundaries
A writing extension can operate near a large amount of user-entered text. Administrators should inspect its app permissions, active/inactive controls and data processing descriptions rather than extrapolating from the provider’s umbrella-level privacy claim.
Superhuman’s agent guidance distinguishes accessed current context from optional ingested data. Keep agent-specific privacy permissions separate from the minimal proofreading workflow, particularly for customer correspondence and regulated teams.
Export, ownership and future portability
Retain originals and final approved revisions in standard document formats with an explanation of material edits. Avoid making browser-extension suggestions the only copy of a work product.
If moving to another checker, test sentence-level meaning, supported languages and extension behavior rather than assuming that shared generative-model branding yields equivalent writing outcomes.
Who should consider an alternative?
DeepL Write is helpful for deliberate paragraph-level rewrites and bilingual teams; Wordtune and QuillBot are other writing tools. Jasper fits teams needing marketing-wide brand context.
How to evaluate it without relying on a sponsored ranking
Choose a small and non-sensitive real task with an answer that can be independently checked. Before testing, record the account, region, language, plan, device and observed user-interface version. Do not infer an exact underlying model ID from the app name; this product profile is not a model release dossier.
Check whether the service meets the entire job: discover, draft, fact-check, permission, revise, export and delete. Separate vendor-described features from any independent outcome evidence. This editorial pass did not conduct hands-on trials, accuracy benchmarks, screenshots or security penetration testing.
Ask the people who own the data and the final work product to approve sharing and publication separately. The productivity benefit only survives if staff can correct a bad output, reverse access and retrieve accepted work when a subscription or product name changes.
Pricing, regional availability and release caveats
This archive records public, provider-documented product functions as reviewed on October 25, 2026. It does not assume that every region, business workspace, operating system or account tier has identical features. Exact regional entitlement, plan quotas, enterprise terms and effective prices are intentionally left unasserted where no matching first-party snapshot was validated.
For current subscription amounts and usage limits, consult a dated pricing registry rather than a copied evergreen price table. Product-level descriptions are not evidence that an application used one fixed model build throughout 2020–2026.
